NEW BABS board elected! During the last very nice but not well attended BABS symposium the new BABS board was elected. Dr Jacques Himpens is the new president and Prof Dr Piet Pattyn the new treasurer. The remainder of the board was re-elected or just changed position. Immediate past president is Jan Willem Greve, who will remain on the board for the coming 4 years as advisor. We wish the new board a fruitful term of 4 years and in particular a wise "reign" over their members. |

| IFSO meetings 2004 | In 2004 there will be an European meeting wich is a satelite meeting to the ECO meeting in Prague. The meeting takes place may 29-20. Information can be found at www.ifsoeu2004.cz. The official IFSO world congress will take place in Tokyo Japan. The organizers promise a high level scientific program in the setting of modern Japan, a possibility to enjoy both new developments in Bariatric surgery and Japanese culture. | IFSO meeting 2005 | The BABS organizes the 2005 IFSO meeting in Maastricht the Netherlands. We expect to organize a spectacular meeting with (we hope) even more participants than the 900 in Salamanca (Spain 2003). To follow the developments of the organization go the dedicated IFSO 2005 website (www.ifso2005.nl) or click on the link in the left collum. |
| Planned BABS symposium and General Assembly June 2007 Brussels | Last 2 years little has happend in the BABS. In part due to the unclear situation in Belgium. A new organization was formed by the current secretary of the BABS Piet Pattyn. This has caused a lot of confusion. In the last board meeting of the BABS an agreement was made to change the bylaws of the BABS to take care that the existing organizations, de werkgroep bariatrische chirurgie van de NVGIC (Netherlands) and the SOSB (belgium) are represented formally in the BABS board. This means alos that the BABS will remain teh official representing body of the Benelux in the IFSO |
